snow and sushi

dave, alex, nancy and i woke up at the crack of dawn last saturday for a classic norcal 2-day ski trip. we hit the slopes early at heavenly with some incredibly warm temperatures. the groomed runs were the only areas that really had any sort of snow since the warm week and cold nights had turned everything else to ice. dave and i both agreed that we felt seriously spoiled by our other trips this year - most of all Park City. it was, at least, an incredibly beautiful day and speeding through the trees on my overly waxed skis made for some thrills. some beer/food coma action at chevy’s in south tahoe capped off my night as i passed out at 830. yeah .. damn early. but in my defense, i drove up that morning while everyone else was napping. haha.

sierra the next day was cooler and the groomed runs were the only run worth going on so it was really relaxing just cruising along. we left at 3pm as the wind picked up and the snow started falling. we wanted to beat a little of the traffic and make it to sushi house. =) oh baby! pro-sushi-house-eater nancy hsieh was our ace in the hole. we didn’t need any menus once we were seated as nance fired away at the waitress all from memory and counting each order with a finger, “can we get a lion king roll, island roll, a’s roll, webster roll, power roll, dynamite roll [correction: lambada roll.. rookie mistake] and bay scallop?” 25 minutes later, there were 7 empty plates on our table and we were out the door. satisfied. done. our waitress looked a little shocked.

quote of the trip:
dave to nancy: [incredulously] “what are you doing with your hand!? tuck in your thumb! geez!”
