fastrak transponders…
it’s 1230am right now and even though my eyes are half shut i had the urge to type out this puzzling question i have about people and where they put their fastrak transponders. for those of you who don’t know what these things are, they are little 4″ x 4″ electronic devices that let toll booths know to charge you when you go over most of the bridges in the bay area. they’re not mandatory but it’s super convenient because you don’t have to stop at the toll booth before the bridge or have cash on hand to give to the attendents. but back to my quesion…
can you tell what kind of person someone is by where they put their fastrak transponder? there are really only two options: mounted to your windshield or in your glove box. if it’s mounted to the windshield, you never have to whip it out every time you go over a bridge and it’s relatively unnoticable since usually, it’s put behind the rear view mirror. when it’s in the glove box, you have to take it out at every bridge crossing and put it away. so i’m here wondering now whether people who put it in their glove box have commitment issues. It’s not like it’s hard mounting it on the windshield. it’s also not difficult to take off when/if that time comes. i’m at a loss and guess i just like things more convenient.
but whatever.. there are bigger things to worry about like why president bush’s ratings are in the low 30s and not way lower. i mean the 20s are where nixon and carter’s approval ratings were and from what i gather, bush is at LEAST as dismal as they were. c’mon america…

commitment issues?? aiyah.
a friend’s car was broken into, and the transponder stolen (only thing. they didn’t take his leather jacket in the back seat. altho i can’t say how ugly that jacket was…) so i keep mine in a convenient cubbyhole, where i don’t have to have velcro strips permanently attached to some part of my baby (car).
and stephen colbert’s speech at the white house correspondents dinner was good stuff.
