Spinnaker Cup

i took last friday off, making it a 4-day weekend which made room for the spinnaker cup. we raced on friday down to monterey in some good air, finishing the race at around 10:30pm (in the dark) and in 23rd place… not too shabby. saturday afternoon we sailed from monterey to santa cruz in really rough, time to get sick, conditions. i was definitely feeling it a little - one dramamine wasn’t enough. sunday, at 5am, we woke up and motored to half moon bay where we had lunch, then hopped back on the boat to sail back to SF. the wind was howling at 39knots right outside the gate as we surfed the swells into the bay. it was definitely a thrilling end to a long weekend.

some highlights:
-seeing dolphins swimming our wake
-sunset sailing
-nighttime sailing
-bill accidentally inflating his life vest
-whole foods quiche and enchiladas on the boat
-sea otter within 10 feet eating a crab it had just caught
-seal within 5 feet splashing into the clear marina water
-sleeping on the deck, under the stars, in santa cruz
